As the days get longer and the temperatures rise, there's nothing quite like sipping on a refreshing glass of sangria. This iconic summertime drink is perfect for gatherings with friends and family, or simply for unwinding on a lazy afternoon. The beauty of sangria lies in its versatility - you can personalize it to your taste preferences with a variety of fruits, wines, and spirits. Whether you prefer red, white, or rosé, there's a sangria recipe out there for everyone. Here are a few of my favorite summer sangria recipes that are sure to be a hit at your next soirée:

Classic Red Wine Sangria

- 1 bottle of dry red wine

- 1/4 cup brandy

- 1/4 cup orange liqueur

- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

- 1/4 cup simple syrup

- Sliced oranges, lemons, and limes

- Mixed berries (such as strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)

Combine the wine, brandy, orange liqueur, orange juice, and simple syrup in a large pitcher. Add the sliced fruit and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, allowing the flavors to meld together. Serve over ice and garnish with additional fruit, if desired.

White Peach Sangria

- 1 bottle of white wine (such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)

- 1/4 cup peach schnapps

- 1/4 cup lemon juice

- 1/4 cup simple syrup

- Sliced white peaches - Fresh basil leaves

In a pitcher, combine the white wine, peach schnapps, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Add the sliced peaches and a few fresh basil leaves. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to let the flavors infuse. Pour into glasses over ice and garnish with a sprig of basil.

Rosé Sangria

- 1 bottle of rosé wine

- 1/4 cup vodka

- 1/4 cup strawberry liqueur

- 1/4 cup cranberry juice

- Sliced strawberries

- Fresh mint leaves

Mix the rosé wine, vodka, strawberry liqueur, and cranberry juice in a large pitcher. Add the sliced strawberries and a few fresh mint leaves. Let it chill in the fridge for about 3 hours to allow the flavors to marry. Serve in glasses over ice and garnish with a mint sprig.

These recipes are just a starting point - feel free to experiment with different fruits, herbs, and spirits to create your own signature summer sangria. With a little creativity and imagination, you can concoct a delightful and refreshing beverage that captures the essence of summer.

Sangria evokes images of lazy summer afternoons, Spanish plazas, and convivial gatherings. It's a drink that invites slow sipping and good conversation, perfectly balancing the warmth of alcohol with the refreshing qualities of fruit and ice.

Enjoy;)
